Affiliations refer to the particular relationship between Legal Studies and other groups that are collaborating in making ACJNet the pre-eminent site for accessing Canadian justice and legal resources. Collaborative agreements facilitate:
- wide access to existing resources
- efficiency and effectiveness in using scarce resources
- maximizing the promotion and marketing of resources
- the best utilization of specific expertise existing within organizations
- the recognition of special mandates that exist in specific areas of law and justice
CATEGORIES
- Resource Affiliates - Provide access to resources through a linking agreement about how and what services will be linked. This may include the cooperative identification ("co-branding") of sites, whereby the affiliate site would link to ACJNet through a template that would continue to include the 'brand" of the original site. This would allow the user to access the materials from the ACJNet site, while still being able to access the main sections of the original site. Examples: Canadian Association of Provincial Court Judges, Alberta Law Foundation, Student Legal Services, and Community Legal Education Association (Manitoba).
- Segment Affiliates - Undertake to be responsible for a specific portion or service related to the content mission of the site and to complement the main portal on a long-term basis.
- Educational Affiliates - Provide an educational activity that may be accessed or hosted through ACJNet. Activities may include the joint development of online courses, information about non-formal learning process, etc.
- Planning Affiliates - assist in the governance of the site thorugh providing comments and suggestions for improvement, becoming part of a virtual governance team, or serving as a member of the dcouncil of Visionaries in a long-term visioning for justice-related issues.
