In March 2000, The Legal Studies Program (now the Legal Resource Centre) undertook a two year project, funded by the Alberta Law Foundation, to make ACJNet the major online portal for legal resources of information to Albertans.
Other goals are:
- to provide advice and assistance to organizations funded by the Alberta Law Foundation to enable them to participate in ACJNet;
- to make the resources of cooperating agencies available to Albertans through ACJNet;
- to develop online tools to assist Albertans understand how to make effective use of ACJNet;
- to develop the technical capacity of ACJNet to provide maximum access to its resources by users;
- to promote ACJNet to Albertans.
The project was initiated because Alberta resources were underrepresented on ACJNet with the result that Albertans have no easy way to find information of direct application to their needs.
